Chapter Nine: Invasion

  Malicious Software

Devoured by a virus,
Her body fights Osiris.
Brokenhearted blue iris,
Etched into the papyrus.

Stitches stapling the fleck,
Morphine, hits the bloody deck,
Breathing through a bottleneck,
A broken attendance check.

The chemo is the pillar,
Also the white cell killer,
Lost in a painful griller,
Where is god, the pain thriller?

Survival is the end game.
The remnants, who is to blame?
Cancer I disclaim your name.
We will not let you lay claim.

It was sublime.
A reprieve from cancer's slime.
My mother's victory we chimed,
Fooled by reverse pantomime.

Vengeful malignancy confirmed.
Her lungs malformed,
Carcinoma; her life scorned,
A metastasised poison stormed.

Where is my mother's lifeline?
Why does it have a deadline?
We don't know the dateline.
But there will be an end-time.
